Mr. Basanta Bhakta Nhuchhe Pradhan is Trail Suspension Bridge Engineer as well as Water Supply and Sanitation Engineer.He has Bachelor in Civil Engineering degree from IIT Roorkee(the then University of Roorkee) in 1986 and Master of Science in Environmental Management/Engineering in 2003 from School of Environmetal Management, Pokhara University.
MrPradhan has more than 36 Years of experience in engineering works along with environment management. He hasworked as WATSAN Consultants on from Nov 1998 to October 2003 for RWSSFDB, a World Bank funded project, which include Pre-Feasibility Site Appraisals, Compliance Monitoring and Evaluation, Design checking and Technical Auditing WASH schemes. He had worked in the capacity of Team Leader for World Bank funded RWSSFDB for Sys-Tec Consultant in Technical Audit, Design, Monitoring Evaluation of WATSAN projects from 2003 to 2006. He worked as a Team leader, Consultant water supply engineer in ADB-TA 4776 Nepal from Aug 01, 2007 to October 31, 2007 and then worked as Consultant Water Supply Engineer from Sept 11, 2006- June 30, 2008. He had involved in Design and Estimates of Isolated Sewerage System in CIUD (Dec, 2010-June 2011). He had workedin the capacity as Water Supply Expert for Capacity Building and Partnership (CBP) Program of KUKL on behalf of Berlin Wassers (Germany) for ADB from February 2011 to June 2013. He has been advising as a senior WASH Expert to a project funded by MoF, Japan, to Peace Winds Japan (an INGO) through Institute for Suitable Action for Prosperity (ISAP), Nepal, since January 2017. He had worked for Practical Action Nepal, an INGO, in survey and design of Gravity Ropeway, 1400m long and 500m level difference, at Bishaltar, just downstream of Benighat, Dhading.The project was implemented as a demo project and to be replicated in appropriated sites in Nepal.
He had also designed 2 gravity ropeways in Panchthar District to transport raw tea leaves from tea garden to processing center for Practical Action Nepal. He has worked as Infrastructure Planner for Canadian International Consultancy (CIWEC) from 1997 January to 1998 April, Feasibility Study of Upper Karnali, DudhKoshi and TamorMewa HEP. During that period he carried out planning of access roads from Head Works to Power House site in Upper Karnali Hydro Electric Project, DudhKoshi HEP and Tamor-Mewa HEP. Mr. Pradhan has worked as Senior Technical Advisor in CARE International in Nepal from April 1992 to August1996. He had prepared design, cost estimates of trail bridges, gravity water supply schemes, community buildings, micro-hydro power projects and carried out technical backstopping to provide advice to field staff in Bajura, Soulukhumbu, Gorkha, Mustang, Mahottari and Kaski districts. Mr. BasantaPradhan has experience in design and cost estimates of more than 150 trail suspension bridges for different governmental, international non-government and private consulting organizations in Nepal. He had worked as an Engineer in Suspension Bridge Division from November 1987 to April1992 and had supervised construction of ChhinaSangu Suspension bridge (67.0 m span), first trail suspension bridge in Jumla District. He had carried out survey of many trail bridges and among them Bilashpur Suspension Bridge (211.0 m span) in Panchkule VDC, over Babai River. He was involved in the capacity of engineer for Coordinator’s office, Mahakali Integrated Rural Development Project, Patan ,Baitadi from October 1986 to October 1987.
