Mr. Nirmal Tandukar is a Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Engineer having more than 30 years of experience in planning, design and construction supervision of water supply and environmental sanitation engineering works. He graduated in Civil engineering from IIT Roorkee, India (formerly University of Roorkee) in 1986 and Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuvan University-Nepal in the year 2003. He is specialised in planning and design of Water Supply and Sanitation Projects and construction supervision of urban water supply and sanitation projects. He was involved in monitoring the progress of the urban/semi-urban/rural water supply and sanitation projects.

He has worked as an Engineer and also Ghorahi Town Project Manager in the then Department of Water Supply and Sewerage.

Major works emphasized during this period are planning, design, procurement of goods and services and construction supervision of intakes, reservoirs, valve chambers and pipeline works and small-scale civil engineering structures and coordinating training programmes. He has the experiences of working with UNHCR-Sudan, the World Bank-Nepal Office, and as an Asian Development Bank National Consultant at the offices of the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management and Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited.

Presently, he is a freelance Consultant.

He is a life member of SOPHEN, RUNVAN, Nepal Engineering Association and Nepal Engineering Council.

He has written also some papers jointly in the field of arsenic contamination in groundwater of Nepal and is published in the international journals.

He has participated in many training/seminars including Mentorship program organized by IITRAAN.
