Mr. Basu Dev Pokhrel is a Civil Engineer from IIT Roorkee (Formerly University of Roorkee) India and EMBA from Bharath Institute for Higher Education and Research, Chennai, India. He has more than 30 years of experience in planning, design and installation supervision of Projects in various sectors, e.g., Hydropower, Irrigation, River Training, Retaining Structures with Gabions, Reinforces Soil Structures, Slope Stabilization and Erosion Control.

Mr. Pokhrel started his professional carrier from BPC Hydroconsult as Design Engineer for Jhimruk Hydroelectric Project and then served various government and non government agencies, e.g., Department of Irrigation, various engineering consulting Firms and Maccaferri (Nepal) Pvt. Ltd., Maccaferri Environmental Pvt. Ltd (India) and GARWARE Wire Ropes Pvt. Ltd (India).

Apart from working experience in Nepal, he also has working experience India, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

He is working in Maccaferri (Nepal) Pvt. Ltd., at present.

He is Life Member of Nepal Engineer’s Association, member of Nepal Engineering Council, member of IEI (Institute of Engineers, India), life member of Society of Technical Auditors Nepal and Life member of IIT Roorkee Alumni Association, Nepal Chapter.

He has presented papers in River Training, Gabion Retaining Structures, Reinforced Soil Structures, Erosion Control Works and Slope Stability to various organizations in Nepal and abroad (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Pakistan).

He has also participated in various Workshops, Seminars and Trainings including Mentorship program

organized by IITRAAN.
