Within the framework of its Outreach Programme (OrP), IIT Roorkee Alumni Association (IITRAAN) has proposed launching of Lecture Series to engineering colleges and development organizations in Nepal, under which IITRAAN members will be encouraged to deliver talk programmes on various topics.
The Lecture Series will align towards achieving the OrP goal: “Contribute to national development through the best use of available qualified/competent technical professionals, and technically sound planning and implementation of national policies, plans and projects”, and links to the Outcome 1 of the OrP Goal: “Enhanced capacity of early-career, young technical professionals to plan, design and implement national policies, plans and projects”.
The Outcome shall be measured with the following outputs.
Output 1.1: Early career technical professionals mentored to prepare them for the career and national development requirements and challenges
Output 1.2: Early career technical professionals trained to enhance their knowledge and competencies
This initiative is expected to target potential young engineers currently studying in engineering colleges as well as those practicing engineers pursuing higher degrees and/or already working in the development projects to share the reach professional knowledge and skills that IITRAAN members have gained in their career. In doing so, the interested alumni will get the opportunity to effectively showcase and share their respective experiences and expertise to the wider audience.
IITRAAN OrP team will soon be reaching out to interested alumni, both at home and abroad, to support this initiative and to share with us potential topics that could be listed in the Lecture Series. Likewise, the team will be coordinating with focal points in those identified engineering colleges and development organizations to plan the events. Delivery of the talks will be offered either physically or online, and announced well in advance to draw as maximum audience as possible.
